Why we’ve updated our pricing and what it means for you

Hi everyone,

I want to take a moment to talk about something that’s been on many of your minds lately: our recent pricing update.

I know for some of you, the change may have felt sudden. And I completely understand why. You’ve poured your time, creativity, and energy into your stories here, and we never want you to feel uncertain about access to your work.

So let me clarify something important upfront:
👉 If you’re already a paying user, your pricing is not changing.


We’re not applying the new pricing to existing customers who are on a subscription plan. You can continue using your current plan as usual. There is no disruption, no forced switch, no action needed.

The new pricing only applies to users who are not on a paid plan and to new users joining StoryTribe moving forward. So if you're currently on a paid plan and unsubscribe, the new pricing will apply if you resubscribe later.

Why we had to make this change

StoryTribe was built to empower creators like you; people who are crafting stories, exploring ideas, and building worlds that matter. And from the beginning, we’ve tried to keep our pricing accessible, and also offered a generous free tier to help people get started.

But the reality is:

Tens of thousands of people use StoryTribe every month, yet only a small fraction of users pay for the service.

We’re a small team, and we simply can’t sustain the business at the current rate.
StoryTribe has grown faster than we ever imagined, and while that’s exciting, it also means higher costs; from infrastructure to the time and talent it takes to support and improve the platform. We’ve reached a point where we need to make thoughtful changes to stay healthy and continue operating the business for the long term.

Every new feature, graphic asset, and improvement is made possible by the work of our engineers, designers, and creative collaborators; real people who are doing their best to support your creativity.

To keep StoryTribe alive and sustainable, we’ve had to make hard choices, and adjusting our pricing is one of them. Not to limit you, but to ensure we can keep operating for you.
