Al Sharpton by David ShankboneAccording to an AP article, the firebrand political activist Alfred Charles “Al” Sharpton, Jr. will not face federal prosecution in a case of chronic tax problems, totalling nearly $4 million in owed back-taxes between Sharpton personally and some of his political organizations. Feds apparently dropped the pursuit after receiving more than $1 million as a down-payment related to the case.

Al Sharpton is a high-profile political activist who has been involved in the Tawana Brawley case, the Crown Heights Riots, and several unsuccessful campaigns for political office.
