McCain Losing Touch with Average Americans?

The AP reports today about a new McCain campaign ad that essentially points to Obama and others in Congress who have held positions against drilling for oil at home in the U.S. as the primary reason for the surge in gas prices.
Politically, it seems a logical step to try hammering the high gas prices on rival domestic policies. However, Americans (and the typically step-behind politicians) are looking at the option of drilling at home as only a small piece of an overall solution to the stranglehold Americans are facing from foreign oil-producing countries. If McCain wants to stay relevant in the minds of both conservative and moderate Americans in the political spectrum, he may want to have a little “sit down” with his campaign’s PR staff.
